Why UC Browser taken down from Google Play Store


UC Browser has been a very handy browser for people who are still using Symbian operating system. Also, It claims around 500 million downloads on the Google play store. But now the browser has vanished from play store and no one knows the exact reason for it.

UC Browser is a China-based mobile browser and is even more popular than Google Chrome. Now if you search for UC Browser in the play store then you will get only one result i.e UC Browser Mini. This browser is still available for downloading.

According to our reports, UC Browser is taken down from Google Play Store due to security reasons. News are coming that it saves your personal details in its cookies and send them to its servers in China. Many other reasons are also said for its removal such as offering misleading or malicious advertising methods.

However, Android Police Founder Artem Russakovskii posted an email from UC Union which talks about UC browser using malicious advertising methods. Mike Ross, who works with UC Browser posted a tweet explaining the same reason for taking down of the app.

He wrote “I work for UC Browser, I got mail today morning it said that UC Browser was temporarily removed from play store for 30 days because it used “Misleading” and “Unhealthy” methods of promotion to increase installs.

Currently, The app is removed for 30 days and later it can be added again to the play store. Google is taking strict action on the apps which are using malicious methods to increase their installs. To keep harmful apps from phone users, Google has also started “Verified by Play Protect Feature” which will allow only verified apps to be installed on phone.

Reports are also coming that browser still continues to gather your information even after uninstallation. So, If you are having this browser then we suggest you not only to uninstall the app but also restore your phone so that your information remains safe with you.
